Stargate

Stargate Watch Order & Timeline

One ancient ring turns distant planets into places a small team can reach on foot. Stargate follows Earth's explorers as they meet alien societies, challenge powerful enemies and uncover the history behind the gate network. The film and live-action series develop a shared screen story; Infinity's animated future belongs to a separate branch.

Stargate: Open the Gate Before Exploring the Network

Start with the Stargate film, then SG-1. Atlantis and Universe expand the live-action world; Origins looks back, while Infinity is a separate animated interpretation.

SG-1 and Atlantis have overlapping context. Whole-series entries provide a broad route, not an exact broadcast interleaving schedule.

Overview & recommendation

The original film makes the gate a discovery before television makes it a way of working. Starting there gives SG-1's expeditions a foundation: people from Earth are learning how much of the galaxy lies beyond a device they have only just understood.

The later series change the expedition and its circumstances, rather than replacing all prior history. Earlier-set Origins is another perspective on that discovery. Infinity uses an animated future outside the live-action route, so its place among releases is not evidence that every live-action character eventually reaches its setting.

Watch the film and begin SG-1 before moving toward the live-action spin-offs. Use the listed broad route for Atlantis, the SG-1 films and Universe, while recognizing that whole-show blocks do not resolve every overlap. Save Origins as a look back, and choose Infinity separately.

Earth's Expeditions and Another Animated Future Live action and Infinity

The live-action group links the film, series and later origin material. Infinity remains a separate animation choice rather than the verified end of that same history.

  • Main Screen Continuity (8 entries)

The film-led live-action world of SG-1, Atlantis, Universe, associated films and Origins, with overlapping series retained as broad complete-work entries.

  • Infinity Animation (1 entry)

Stargate Infinity's separate animated future, not assumed to be the eventual history of the live-action expeditions.

Frequently asked questions 7 answers

Must I start with Origins because it is earlier?

No. The original film is the discovery-led introduction, with SG-1 building from it. Origins can be watched later as background.

Is Infinity the future of SG-1?

This collection keeps Infinity's animated interpretation separate from the live-action screen continuity. A future setting alone does not establish it as SG-1's endpoint.
